Creo Spring Auditions 2025-2026

Dancers may audition for the opportunity to learn a solo or small group dance to work on throughout the year and perform at the following events.

• Cathedral Dance Festival’s Small Groups/Solo Adjudication (Friday in Late April/Early May of 2026) 
• CREO’s Elevate Recital 2026 – Information TBA. 

Dancers may audition to compose their own choreography or learn a piece taught by a CREO instructor. Traditionally dancers grade 6-8 learn a small group dance taught by an instructor. Dancers grade 9-12 are eligible to be considered for instructor-choreographed groups of any size including solos and student composed pieces.

General Requirements:

• Entering Grade 6+ or Level 4 for 2025-2026 academic year. 
• Commitment to the Elevate Rehearsal process outlined below.
• Availability for Summer Elevate Rehearsal Weeks:
  • June 23-27
  • July 21-25
  • August 4-8
• Availability for the date of the Cathedral Festival – Usually last weekend in April/first weekend in May.
• Availability for CREO’s Elevate Recital 2026 – Information TBA.

Rehearsal Schedule:

• Instructor Choregraphed Pieces
  • Summer – 6 separate hour-long rehearsals with a CREO instructor during the Elevate rehearsal weeks.
  • School Year – 2 separate hours of rehearsal with a CREO instructor.
  • School Year – Monthly studio rental to review the pieces on your own.
  • All-Elevate Showing/Workshop during the school year (dates TBA)
• Student Choreographed Pieces
  • Summer – 3 separate hour-long sessions with a CREO instructor during the Elevate rehearsal weeks
  • Summer – 3 separate hour-long studio rentals during the Elevate rehearsal weeks.
  • School Year – 2 separate hours rehearsal with a CREO instructor.
  • School year – Monthly studio rentals to work on the piece on your own.
  • All-Elevate Showing/Workshop during the school year (dates TBA).

Parent Obligation:

• Volunteering: Volunteers play a vital role in any CREO performance event. We will need parent help during Cathedral and Elevate Recital weekends.
• Rehearsal Preparation: It is the parents’ responsibility to ensure their child’s dance is well prepared – including, (as necessary) the scheduling of any additional studio time or private rehearsals with an instructor.
• Costume Preparation: Parents are responsible to ensure their dancer has secured a costume and hair piece. We encourage dancers to source previously used recital costumes from their friends or their own wardrobes.

In the 2025 Fall season the Faith-Based Conservatory ensemble, The CREO DanceVERVE will focus on preparing The Nativity. The epic story of the birth of the Lamb of God is told from the perspective of a little lamb traveling to Bethlehem with the shepherds and the angels. Featuring ballet, contemporary, and modern dance movement styles.

*The Nativity Is a limited cast. Not all dancers who audition will be accepted into a role.

Grade 6-7 Dancers for the 2025-2026 Academic School Year – Dancers of this age will be considered for large group numbers and understudy roles.

The Nativity Requirements

• Faith Builder Camp June 23-27
• Summer Nativity Intensive: August 18-21 from 5:15-8:15 pm
• Summer role rehearsals scheduled by availability
• Fall Reheasrals
  • Saturdays September-December
  • Wednesdays (as needed), & Fridays October-December
• Performances in November/December – Venue & Dates TBA

The Nativity Cost to Participate: $375

CREO Arts & Dance will hold auditions for the 2026 production of Tales & Tails of Folks & Fairies. Dancers accepted for large roles or solos will rehearse over the summer. Other dancers will be cast in group pieces to begin rehearsals in the fall. These dancers will receive their roles by Late-September. Dancers who audition for Tales & Tails in the Spring do not need to attend the annual fall T&T audition, (Fall 2025.)

Performance Date: February/March 2026

*Performance dates subject to be determined based on theater availability.

Cost to Participate in The Nutcracker Large Roles: $300

*Dancers will be notified with their audition result if they are cast in a role requiring the higher tuition rate (for example, but not limited to: Fairies, Wind, Little Girl, etc…)

• Tier 1 = 1 role: $300
• Tier 2 = 2 roles: $325
• Tier 3 = 3+ roles & featured roles: $375

T&T Feature Role Rehearsal Commitment:

• Approximately 4-6 role rehearsals over the summer
• Periodic Brush-ups between Sept-Jan 2026
• Approximately 2-4 Full-Scene Rehearsals between Sept-Jan 2026
• Full-Cast Rehearsals Wed/Fri/Saturdays the months leading up to the performance.

T&T General Rehearsal Commitment:

• Approximately 4-6 role rehearsals scheduled between June-Jan 2025
• Approximately 2-4 Full-Scene Rehearsals between Sept-Jan 2025
• Full-Cast Rehearsals Wed/Fri/Saturdays the months leading up to the performance.

Parent Obligation: Parent Volunteers play a vital role in any show weekend at CREO. Because Tales & Tails typically involves over 100 children, we ask that each family volunteer for at least 1 position to ensure the success of our rehearsal process and performances. A Sign-up Genius will be sent out in December. Families unable to volunteer will be charged a $75 activity fee after the close of the show.

Over the past 10 years, CREO is proud to have partnered with Wayzata Community Church to cast dancing roles in their musical theater productions. Next season Wayzata Community Church looks forward to mounting the beloved Broadway classic, Mary Poppins, and invites CREO dancers to participate!

Please note: Due to the proximity of this show to Tales & Tails, once the audition results of CREO’s Spring Audition are announced, we will ask dancers to accept participation in either Mary Poppins OR Tales & Tails, but not both.
